Statistics of the tourism sector in Guatemala
Tourism in Guatemala has had exponential growth in recent years, both nationally and internationally. Below we can see some statistics found in theannual tourism statistical bulletin 2022prepared by theNational Institute of Tourism (INGUAT)where we can observe the growth in this sector compared to the year 2021. This gives us a perspective of the potential that exists and how tourism is one of the fastest growing sectors in the country. It is our responsibility as Guatemalans to take advantage of this potential in a sustainable and inclusive way.
Visitors 2022
During this year, 1,844,739 visitors entered, of which 81% were tourists and 19% hikers, with the month of December having the highest influx of visitors.
Compared to the year 2021, tourism had an increase of 177% equivalent to 1,178,722 more arrivals.
